以下產品用于研究當關鍵結構元件改變時對寡核苷酸活性的影響。7-脫氮嘌呤單體缺乏對氫鍵合至關重要的基團。7-Deaza-8-aza-A和7-deaza-8-aza-G（PPG）單體是A和G的異構體，并且具有相似的電子密度。它們在寡核苷酸中的存在相對于A和G略微穩(wěn)定。與G不同，PPG不會導致聚集，并且可以容易地制備和分離富含G的寡核苷酸。在5'-末端具有PPG的5'-熒光素寡核苷酸比等同的G寡核苷酸淬滅得少得多。作為胸苷的嘌呤類似物，7-脫氮-2'-脫氧黃嘌呤核苷（7-deaza-dX）有望對三鏈體的DNA結構產生有趣的影響。7-Deaza-dX還與2,4-二氨基嘧啶核苷類似物形成非標準堿基對。標準核堿基具有未共享的電子對，其突出到雙鏈DNA的小溝中。與DNA，聚合酶，逆轉錄酶，限制酶等相互作用的酶可以使用氫鍵供體基團與小溝中的氫鍵受體接觸。3-Deaza-2'-deoxyadenosine非常有趣，因為它保持了常規(guī)Watson-Crick氫與T鍵合的能力，但缺乏通常由N3提供的3-位的電子對。
